Computer Memories
I've been recently trying to recall my earliest days with computers.
I'm fuzzy on the earliest because I was very young.
I do recall programming on a then brand new TI 99/4a.
I remember also working on a friends TRS80 (Trash 80), and later my grandfathers Apple 2e.
Then in '84, after my TI was ruined when my little brother spilled ice cream all over the keyboard (which was also the computer), I had the (then brand new) IBM PCjr.
That's when my programming moved from BASIC to learning DOS, and learning programming in PASCAL.
I'm starting to wonder though if might have started working on computers earlier than '81 (11 years old).
I know we had the Atari 2600 shortly after moving to Utah from California, so that would have been around winter of '77/78.
I have snippets of memories of other computers that I can't quite recall back around the same time as we acquired the 2600. At my grandfathers and friend's houses.
I've pretty much stuck with having "started programming" when I was 11. But I guess I started "messing with computers" around 7 or 8 years old.
Anyhow, just some thoughts "out loud".
