William's Happy 12th Birthday.

Posted by Hawke at Aug 08, 2009 10:50 PM |

Yesterday was William's b-day. And a happy one it turned out to be. It was a three-parter.

It started VERY early in the morning with the family (including Karina) meeting at our favorite breakfast (decadent) spot: "Old European".
Then dropping them off at school, while Karina and I ran various errands to get all the last minute arrangements in place for the party after school.
She did a great job decorating one of the cakes with the Linux mascot Tux the Penguin.
William is president of SLUG (the Spokane Linux User Group), and their monthly meeting was this same night, and he did not want to miss it, so this second cake was made just for that group.
Meanwhile, after school, the "kid" b-day party met at Laser Quest downtown, and 4 of the 6 invited kids showed up. They all had a blast!
After all the fun there, most went home, but 2 of the kids went with William to the SLUG meeting. One enjoyed, the other was less stimulated by the technology talk.
William was a hoot.
He really took charge of the meeting this time, limiting introductions for the most part to just 45 seconds (I need to talk to him about maybe allowing a _little_ more time there), and letting folks know when it was time to move on. LOL!
We finally made it hom around almost 10 pm.
We were all tired, but William was a VERY happy camper.
These are the good times to remember.
I'll see if I can capture some photos from the video, or get  pics from Karina, to post to this article later (if I do not space it).
Cheers!
